Organifi Green Juice Review

Is Green Juice Good For You?

Organifi Green Juice isn’t bad for you

It’s just not good enough to top our best greens powders list, it falls into what seems to be a pretty common trap for greens powders, and that’s simply, not giving us the full nutritional details. It’s all well and good for Green Juice to say it includes ingredients good for stress (see ashwagandha) or inflammation (see turmeric), but if it’s not included in a large enough dosage to be effective, then they don’t really serve much purpose.

And whilst many consumers would think that Organifi Green Juice wouldn’t include ingredients without putting an effective amount in their greens powder, it’s unfortunately very common practice in the nutrition industry, to the point where we would say it’s more common than not.

The logic being quite simply that people will buy the product because the ingredients are listed, and then they fill it with more of the cheap and ineffective ingredients. It’s also a certainty that some of the ingredients can’t be fully dosed based on the total volume and that all ingredients being fully dosed would simply require more milligrams than exist in a serving of Green Juice.

Now, all of this doesn’t mean that Organifi Green Juice doesn’t have any effectively dosed ingredients, it also doesn’t mean it’s a particularly bad greens powder by the standards of the industry. It’s relatively mediocre. In short, it’s OK, but there are better tasting, better value and better dosed options available.

Organifi Green Juice Claims

Organifi claim that their product will reduce stress and cortisol levels (with the aforementioned Ashwagandha being largely behind this claim), help with weight management (we’ll come back to that one) and that it will help detox the body. As for the first claim, if we assume that they’ve got the correct dose of Ashwagandha, which they likely do, then it’s not an unreasonable claim by Green Juice as there have been double blind studies to back this up. [1] They do claim to have 600mg as a dosage on the site, but it is not on the actual nutritional label. If this is correct then it can be effective. As for weight management, there isn’t really a lot here to suggest that Organifi would help with this, beyond possibly filling you up. There’s not really a lot to back up this claim at all. As for the detox, it really depends what they mean, it’s a relatively washy statement, but it’s not unreasonable, greens powders do help your digestion and contain antioxidants etc. There’s enough evidence on greens like wheatgrass, lemon juice etc [2] to suggest this is all pretty reasonable.

Organifi Green Juice Review FAQ

The most commonly asked questions we came across when researching our Green Juice review

Is Organifi Green Juice Safe?

Yes, for most people, with the exclusion of allergens. It is third-party tested, and it has undergone USDA Organic Certification, confirming it is gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, non-GMO, as well as tested for impurities, such as heavy metals. It’s produced in line with GCMP guidelines, but as with all natural supplements Green Juice is not FDA regulated.

How Does Green Juice Taste?

Generally speaking all greens powders do have something of the taste of greens, but as for the flavors the apple is great if a little artificial and the mint has a natural flavor.

Organifi Green Juice Ingredients

Greens Blend 5.1g

The Organifi Greens Blend contains Organic Wheat Grass Juice Powder, Organic Moringa (Moringa oleifera leaf), Organic Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis, whole plant), Organic Chlorella (Chlorella vulgaris, whole plant), Organic Matcha green tea (Camellia sinesis, whole leaf). That’s quite a lot and most of these are pretty standard in greens powders, there’s not really anything special in here and it’s pretty par for the course, as you’d expect you get most of the benefits you get from adding healthy greens to your diet. The studies show that most of the nutrition is passed on through powdered form, and this is all pretty good. [3]

Wheat grass juice for example has been shown to contain a decent amount of potassium, iron and zinc which all sounds good so far. Until you look at the limited Organifi label, unlike a lot of other Greens powders Organifi doesn’t even come close to meeting your micronutrient needs. Which is pretty unusual, AG1, Super Green Tonik and most of the other big names manage to come close to hitting all of your needs with the exclusion of a couple of vitamins like calcium. This is not the good start that it promised to be.

Superfood Blend 1.95g

Next up we have the superfood blend containing Organic Coconut Water Powder, Organic Ashwagandha, Organic Red Beet (root) and Organic Turmeric. And whilst we know that they dose Ashwagandha at 600mg and this means that the coconut water would be higher based on product listing order (let’s assume 700mg). This means that we have 650mg total for the rest of the ingredients. Turmeric usually needs to be dosed at 1000mg to have any benefits [4]. As for beets, we have the same issue, if you want the benefits of beets you’re better of getting a reds powder.

So not terrible, but it’s also not great.

Organifi Review Conclusion

Organifi Green Juice is an OK product, it’s at a reasonably high price point so it does come up against the best greens powders and doesn’t quite make the cut. If you’ve bought it or it really want to try it out, it’s not going to be bad for you. But, nutritionally it’s not the best, and to top it off it’s highly priced. The only thing it’s really got going for it against it’s competitors is that it does taste pretty good, it’s still not the best, but it’s not terrible. We can’t really say we recommend Organifi, but we would tell you to avoid it either. It’s a 4/10.
